Character Dining at Animal Kingdom

One place where you can dine with some of Disney's most beloved characters is Tusker House Restaurant in the Animal Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World. Located in the Africa section of the park, guests can make a breakfast reservation and enjoy a buffet that includes items such as Mickey waffles, ham, bacon, sausage, potato wedges, biscuits, fruit, yogurt, and pastries. Characters you may meet include: Safari Donald, Mickey, Goofy, and Daisy. Pictures can be taken at your table with the characters.

Disney World Refillable Mug Price Changes

Disney World is changing its prices on the refillable mugs. If you have a Disney Dining Plan, you should know that these mugs are included. But if you elect to buy them separately, the cost is $16.49 not including taxes for your stay.

Changes to The Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios

The Great Movie Ride at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios is getting some updates. First, there are new posters and signs outside the ride. The pre-show video is also different. It focuses on the different genres of movies. In case you forget "genres" from elementary school library, that is science fiction, adventure, etc. At the end of the ride, guests will see improved digital projection. Enjoy!

Hocus Pocus Show at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World is getting a new show, a Hocus Pocus themed villains show. The Halloween celebration, which takes place at Magic Kingdom on select nights from September 15th to November 1st, also includes a parade and fireworks.

Disney World Building Solar Farm

There is going to be a solar farm at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Do you want to know the really cool thing? The panels will be in the shape of a Mickey Mouse head! Duke Energy will be building the solar power facility. It will be located near Epcot Center Drive and World Drive (thus by the Epcot theme park). The facility will be on 20 acres and consist of 48,000 solar panels. The plant should be running by the end of 2015. Look for construction beginning in the middle of the summer.

As part of the Diamond Celebration, three restaurants at the Disneyland Resort are offering boxes of four truffles available for purchase.

Blue Bayou Restaurant's truffles include: creme brule, bananas foster, king cake, and mint julep.

Carthay Circle Restaurant's truffles include: Carthay Manhattan, Brown Derby (fresh grapefruit, honey, and bourbon), B52 coffee, and hazelnut tiramisu.

Steakhouse 55's truffles include: Cosmopolitan, kahlua, 24-layer chocolate cake, and primitivo (blackberry, raspberry, plums, cherry, and raisin).

Indiana-Themed Lounge Coming to Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney (Disney Springs) is getting yet another eaterie. This one is for all you Indiana Jones fans out there. Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is a lounge set to open in Downtown Disney this Fall. This aviation-themed establishment will be located in between Boathouse and Paradiso 37. If you know Indiana Jones, you likely know that Jock Lindsey is the name of his pilot with a pet snake named Reggie.

New Dining Option at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom

Harambe Market is now open in the Africa section of Disney World's Animal Kingdom theme park. Located behind Mombasa Marketplace, the market offers four different menus including cold drinks, draft beer, South African wines, red sangria, Karubi ribs,  corn dogs, grilled chicken skewer, ground beef kabob flatbread, vegetables, and African milk tart dessert. The milk tart dessert (coconut custard in a chocolate shell dusted with sugar and drizzled with dark chocolate ganache) sounds especially delicious.

Exciting new high-profile tenants, including fashion retailers Zara, Tommy Bahama, Lilly Pulitzer, UNIQLO and PANDORA, are the latest to sign on as Downtown Disney continues its expansion into Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort.

Today, a total of 13 new tenants were announced, including eight retail shops. Recently announced and opening in Fall 2015:

Morimoto Asia: World-renowned chef Masaharu Morimoto and the Patina Restaurant Group will open Morimoto Asia, Morimoto’s first Pan-Asian restaurant at Disney Springs. Morimoto Asia’s culinary elements will provide flavors from across Asia, while exhibition kitchens will showcase the continent’s traditions. Included among them are street-food stalls, Peking duck carving, and dim sum.
STK Orlando:  STK Orlando will offer a modern twist on the traditional American steakhouse featuring an innovative menu mixed with a high-energy atmosphere, complete with a sleek lounge with a DJ and rooftop dining.  At approximately 14,000 square feet, the Orlando outpost will be one of the largest STK locations.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar: With a storyline centered on the pilot from the “Indiana Jones” films, this aviation- themed lounge will feature unique drinks and small plates. Themed décor like propeller-based ceiling fans, vintage travel posters and correspondence between Jock and Indy will immerse guests in a world of adventure.

Existing Downtown Disney properties making significant investments include:

Paradiso 37: Undergoing an expansion, Paradiso 37 is capitalizing on its beautiful waterfront setting. As part of its renovation, the restaurant is doubling its seating, adding more terrace dining and building a new outdoor performance stage.

Planet Hollywood: Transforming its flagship venue, Planet Hollywood will become a star-themed Planet Hollywood Observatory to match the look and feel of Disney Springs. As part of the makeover, the venue will add a new outdoor terrace and bar space called Stargazers and feature live entertainment.

Disney's Tomorrowland Now in Theaters

Disney Cruise Line Returning to New York, Miami and Galveston in 2016

In the fall of 2016, Disney Cruise Line will return to New York for a limited time with sailings to the Bahamas that include a visit to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. New seven-night Caribbean cruises from Miami and a return to Galveston, Texas round out the season.

Return to New York
On Oct. 7, 2016, the Disney Magic will sail from New York on an eight-night Bahamian cruise that includes stops at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay; Nassau, Bahamas; and Port Canaveral, Florida, which is located just one hour from the Walt Disney World Resort.
On Oct. 15, 22 and 29, 2016, the Disney Magic will sail from New York on seven-night cruises that stop at Castaway Cay and Port Canaveral.
Adding to the magic on each of these Bahamian cruises will be the opportunity to visit the Walt Disney World Resort when the ship stops at nearby Port Canaveral. Each guest on these sailings will receive a one-day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket and round-trip transportation for the short trip between the ship and the resort.
On Oct. 2, 2016, the Disney Magic will sail from New York on a five-night cruise to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. In these charming Canadian ports, guests can soak in splendid natural vistas, explore historic sites, visit quaint cafes and shops, and browse Canada’s oldest farmer’s market.
New Seven-night Cruises from Miami
For the first time, Disney Cruise Line guests will be able to enjoy a season of seven-night voyages from Miami to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. On Nov. 20 and Dec. 4, 2016, the Disney Magic will sail from Miami to the Western Caribbean including Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay.
On Nov. 27 and Dec. 11, the Disney Magic will sail to the Eastern Caribbean including Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay. On Dec. 23, the Disney Magic will sail to Tortola, San Juan and Castaway Cay.
Additional Miami sailings include a four-night Bahamas cruise departing on Nov. 16, a five-night Bahamas cruise departing on Dec. 18, and a six-night Western Caribbean cruise departing on Dec. 30, 2016. Each sailing will include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. 
Return to Galveston
In late 2016, Disney Cruise Line returns to Texas with a line up of seven-night itineraries, including Bahamian sailings that stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. On Nov. 18, Nov. 25, Dec. 9, Dec. 23 and Dec. 30, 2016, the Disney Wonder will sail on a seven-night Bahamian itinerary from Galveston to Key West, Castaway Cay and Nassau.
On Dec. 2, the Disney Wonder will sail on a seven-night Caribbean itinerary from Galveston to Falmouth, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. On Dec. 16, the Disney Wonder will sail from Galveston on a seven-night cruise to Cozumel, Costa Maya and Grand Cayman. Two four-night sailings to Cozumel on Nov. 10 and Nov. 14, round up the sailings from Galveston.
Most of the late 2016 cruises include either Halloween or winter-holiday events that bring special entertainment, activities and décor to the Disney Cruise Line ships.

Walt Disney World is moving toward allergy-friendly menus for all its restaurants by the end of the year. Guests will be able to order straight off the menu since each item on the menu will have allergen content (such as fish, gluten/wheat, milk, peanut, and tree nut) listed. Guests will still be able to speak to cast members (Disney staff members) about allergies.
