Ant-Man Preview at Disney's California Adventure

Watch a preview of Ant-Man at the Bug's Life Theater at Disney's California Adventure. The preview is in 3D and includes special effects. You'll see the preview through a bug's eyes and be guided by Host Flik. The theater will also have one of Ant-Man's suits in the lobby.


The movie hits theaters July 17, 2015.

Teen Beach 2 Soundtrack Available On Walt Disney Records June 22

On June 23, Walt Disney Records is set to release the surf-rock/pop soundtrack for "Teen Beach 2," the highly anticipated surf and song sequel to "Teen Beach Movie," the Disney Channel Original Movie that ranks as the second highest-rated cable television movie of all time.  "Teen Beach 2" premieres Friday, June 26 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel U.S. followed by telecasts on Disney Channels around the world.
 
Currently available for pre-order at iTunes and the newly launched site www.DisneyChannelMusicStore.com, the soundtrack includes a blend of contemporary- and 1960s-inspired songs performed by the cast, an end credit song performed by Hollywood Records' artist R5, one song performed by Hollywood Records' artist Sabrina Carpenter, three bonus tracks and a radio version of Ross Lynch's "On My Own" (written by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Evan Bogart, Riker Lynch, Rocky Lynch, Ross Lynch and Ellington Ratliff).
 
A fantastical music- and dance-driven story designed for kids, tweens and families, "Teen Beach 2" picks up at the close of summer. With surf season over and high school back in session, laid-back Brady and studious Mack's relationship is headed for a wipeout when they receive a surprise real-world visit from their 1960s silver screen friends, Lela and Tanner, who have remarkably departed "Wet Side Story," quickly followed by their 1960s bikers and surfer friends led by Butchy, Cheechee and Seacat.  Knowing first-hand that the "real" world and the movie world don't mix, Mack, Brady and all of the "Wet Side Story" friends must quickly devise a plan and use the magic of Lela's necklace to get everyone back to their movie world before it's too late.

Disney's "Descendants" Soundtrack Available On Walt Disney Records July 31

Walt Disney Records will release the soundtrack for Disney's "Descendants" on Friday, July 31, the day the eagerly-anticipated movie premieres on Disney Channel (8:00 p.m. ET/PT).  The soundtrack pre-order is available now HERE.  It features the single "Believe," performed and written by 16 year-old recording artist Shawn Mendes (Island Records) and original songs performed by the "Descendants" cast, plus bonus tracks and a score suite.

On Tuesday, June 16, Shawn Mendes' "Believe" single will be available as a song purchase or free with the purchase of the "Descendants" soundtrack at select digital retailers.  The song will premiere in the U.S. and Canada, Monday, June 15 (4:00 p.m., PT) on Radio Disney.
 
Disney's "Descendants" stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart and Sofia Carson as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney's most infamous villains.  With a knowing wink at traditional fairy tales, the live-action movie fuses castles with classrooms to create a contemporary, music-driven story about the challenges in living up to parental and peer expectations. Mickey's Backyard BBQ Open Four Days with New Menu Items

Mickey's Backyard BBQ, located at Disney World's Fort Wilderness & Campground, is now open four days a week. The restaurant accepts the Disney Dining Plan. The Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack will be available this fall at a suggested retail price of $64.99, and Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition promises to deliver kids and families with a wider breadth of content and variety of gameplay than ever offered from Disney Infinity, including:

Disney Animation Shorts Collection Coming to Blu-ray

A collection of some of Walt Disney Company's animated shorts will be released by Walt Disney Animation Studios to Digital HD, Disney Movies Anywhere, and Blu-ray On August 18th. These twelve films were produced between 2000 and 2015 and played before Disney feature films.

Disney, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox Announce The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection

As anticipation builds for the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first new film in the Star Wars Saga in a decade, The Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox  announced the upcoming release of The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection. For the first time ever, all six epic films in the Saga, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi, will be available on Digital HD throughout the galaxy – or at least here on Earth – globally.
 
“Since the debut of the first film nearly 40 years ago, Star Wars has become a worldwide phenomenon with legions of fans from every generation,” said Alan Bergman, President, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s only fitting that audiences enjoy this legendary Saga and its many fascinating behind-the-scenes stories on a wide variety of platforms, and we’re very excited to finally bring all six films to Digital HD for the first time.”

Fans can meet their favorite Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior stars, the biggest among a generation of kids and tweens, at D23 EXPO, the ultimate Disney fan event, FRIDAY, AUGUST 14 through SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

The schedule features "inside-the-magic" experiences including a weekend full of jam-packed Center Stage musical performances by Hollywood Records recording artists Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Holt and Radio Disney's NBT Bea Miller; a dance party with stars from the Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach 2; a sneak peek at Disney Junior's upcoming The Lion Guard; meet and greets with beloved characters from top-rated preschool series Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins; the premiere of an all-new Mickey Mouse cartoon short and more.

On FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, fans can attend a performance by Disney Channel star Olivia Holt. 

On SATURDAY, AUGUST 15, Sofia the First's Ariel Winter will be a special reader during Disney Junior story time. Plus, fans can catch performances by Girl Meets World star Sabrina Carpenter, Disney’s Descendants stars Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson, and Radio Disney’s NBT Bea Miller. Also, popular radio personalities from Radio Disney will be on site for a Radio Disney dance party. Then, fans can join creators of hit Disney XD animation series for the New Disney Storytellers panel, which will offer a glimpse into the vision and inspiration that go into a Disney XD animated series.  

On SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, younger kids and their families can start off with Disney Junior story time featuring special guest reader Loretta Devine from Doc McStuffins, and then get up and groove with Radio Disney Junior at a special dance party. Disney Store Opens its First and Largest Store in the World in Shanghai, China

Disney Store opened the doors of its flagship store in the popular Lujiazui area of Pudong, Shanghai, China. The landmark store is the largest retail space of any Disney Store in the world featuring 9,257 square feet of immersive shopping experiences and innovative product, and also features an outdoor plaza.

Walt Disney Records Set To Release "Inside Out" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack With Score Composed By Michael Giacchino

Disney•Pixar's "Inside Out" features an original score that captures the emotional spirit of the story by award-winning composer Michael Giacchino. Directed by Academy Award® winner Pete Docter ("Monsters, Inc.", "Up") and produced by Jonas Rivera, p.g.a. ("Up"), Disney•Pixar's "Inside Out" opens in U.S. theaters on June 19, 2015.
 
Giacchino worked with director Pete Docter on "Up" (garnering an Academy Award® for best original score) and also counts Disney•Pixar's films "Cars 2," "Ratatouille" and "The Incredibles" among his credits. But, says the composer, "Inside Out" was different. "Pete [Docter] wanted the music to feel as if it was coming from the inside—from internal thoughts," says Giacchino. "We were going for something atmospheric. Something that wasn't traditional film score."
 
According to the composer, the goal of the music mirrored the goal of the film. "It had to feel emotional," says Giacchino. "I wasn't sure how I wanted it to sound, but I knew how I wanted it to feel. This film is personal."
 
The score was recorded with a 70-piece orchestra with an organ and a rhythm section that consisted of guitars and a drummer.
 
"I had a lot of fun writing the music," continues Giacchino. "There's a 1930s jazzy section we wrote for the Forgetters, and we channel classic horror in the Subconscious. The film really goes all over the map musically, but what I love most about it is that we never forgot that it's an emotional story that's being told."
 
"Inside Out" is preceded by the short "LAVA" from Pixar Animation Studios, director James Ford Murphy and producer Andrea Warren. Inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes, "LAVA" is a musical love story that takes place over millions of years. The short features the theme performed by Kuana Torres Kahele (Uku & Narrator) and Napua Greig (Lele).  The "Lava" score is available at digital retail.

Starbucks is open on Discovery Island (on the walkway leading from the park entrance to the Africa section) in Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. The coffee shop replaces Creature Comforts gift shop and offers not only coffee and pastries but also Disney cupcakes. If you buy a flat white latte, a portion of the proceeds goes to saving the Cotton Top Tamarins (monkeys) in Colombia.

Adventures by Disney Introduces New Ways to Experience Europe in 2016

“Frozen Ever After” Adventure to Transport Epcot Guests through the Kingdom of Arendelle

Epcot guests will be able to visit the kingdom of Arendelle when the highly anticipated attraction “Frozen Ever After” opens in the Norway Pavilion in 2016. The family adventure welcoming guests to the magical world of “Frozen” will feature the popular story of the royal sisters, hit songs and new technology for an icy trek that is sure to warm hearts.

Once onboard their boat, guests will visit Arendelle for the Winter in Summer Celebration. Queen Elsa embraces her magical powers and creates a winter-in-summer day for the entire kingdom. Guests also will visit Elsa’s Ice Palace and the ice-blue world of the North Mountain, along with other locations before returning to the Bay of Arendelle.

Of course, favorite “Frozen” characters including the Snowgies from the animated short “Frozen Fever” will be part of this new attraction, along with spectacular sights inspired by the film.

Gothic Restaurant Opening at Disney Springs

The Edison restaurant and bar opens at Disney Springs (Downtown Disney) in 2016. The restaurant will serve American food and craft cocktails. Customers can also see contortionists and get palm readings at the restaurant. Rooms will be themed The Radio Room, The Ember Parlour, The Lab performance space, The Patent Office, Telegraph Lounge, Waterfront Patio, and The Tesla Lounge. Zootopia Movie Preview

More Parking at Magic Kingdom Theme Park

There will be more parking spaces at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom soon. Its parking lot will include the Walt Disney World Speedway race track. The track's Exotic Driving Experience and Richard Petty Driving Experience will close August 9, 2015.

Frozen Summer Fun LIVE! has arrived at Hollywood Studios. The celebration runs through September 7, 2015. Watch a parade with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff. Enjoy A "Frozen" Sing-Along Celebration at the Hyperion Theater (where the American Idol Experience used to be). Watch the animated short Frozen Fever in the ABC Sound Studio twice an hour beginning at 10 a.m.

Zuri's Sweets Shop Opens at Animal Kingdom

Zuri's Sweets Shop is now open at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom theme park. Located at Harambe Market, guests can purchase popcorn, Mickey Mouse-shaped chocolate, candy apples, and other sweets at this new shop. Look for Africa-themed treats, and if you are traveling with a Lion King fan, definitely stop in because you can expect to see some Lion King-themed treats.

Disney Broadway Concert Coming to D23 Expo

A Disney Broadway concert called The Originals is coming to the D23 Expo. The concert is a 70 minute performance that features voices from Mary Poppins, Aladdin, and Tarzan. The concert will be Saturday, August 15th at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Stage 23 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The singers performing include Ashley Brown, Josh Strickland, and James Monroe Iglehart. A five-piece band will also be a part of the performance as well as behind-the-scenes interviews and videos.

Characters from Inside Out Movie Coming to Disney California Adventure Park Parade

Characters from the upcoming Disney movie Inside Out will be coming to Disney California Adventure Park (Disneyland) starting June 19th. The characters will make an appearance every day before the Pixar Play Parade. This parade is the one where Buzz Lightyear's rocketship shoots water and Nemo blows bubbles.

The NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort’ Coming to Disney Springs

 The Walt Disney Company and the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced today that they have begun developing “The NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort” at Disney Springs in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
This expansive, one-of-a-kind destination will feature hands-on activities that put families and guests of all ages right in the middle of NBA game action. Guests will enjoy immersive NBA video productions and numerous interactive experiences, as well as a restaurant and a retail store.

Disney's Tangled Coming to TV

You loved the movie. Now you can watch it on TV. A TV series based on the Disney animated movie Tangled will include Mandy Moore (as Rapunzel) and Zachary Levi (as Flynn Rider). The series will have new songs by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater. The show will air in 2017.

Fantasia Becoming Live Action Movie

Fantasia has been around since 1940, and now Disney is making a Fantasia live action movie. Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama are writing the script. The movie will be based on the Night on Bald Mountain part of the film. In case you don't remember, this part of Fantasia is about a winged creature who raised spirits from the dead. The spirits dance and fly through the air at night but are gone by sunrise.
